MORE SALMON IN THE RIVERS

The above picture shows the number of salmon of one night net-fishing
by one bag- net-fisherman on the Trondheim-fjord. The picture below shows the catches the same
afternoon! Two salmon were just less than 20 kilos (44 lb) in weight.
Every year, thousands of salmon are caught in bag-nets on their way to
the rivers in the Trondheim-fjord area, salmon that are far better
off in the rivers.
The organisation "Elevene rundt Trondheims-fjorden" (ERT) or the
"Trondheim-fjord Rivers", has offered the bag-net-fishermen
NOK 70.00 per kilo (£5.80) as a compensation for not using their
bag-net-fishing rights.

the cancellation of their bag- net-fishing to increase
the number of wild salmon in the Trondheim-fjord rivers. |

| The Organisation |
The organisation, "Elvene rundt Trondheimsfjorden" (ERT) or the "Trondheim-fjord Rivers" was
established in September 2004.
Its purpose is to help to increase the number of wild salmon
running the rivers of the huge Trondheim-fjord basin.
